why the photographer you chose matters.
I can’t take credit for this post. I read this from another blog post from the Fitness Influencer James Smith. Take a read:
Canon invited 6 photographers in to a big studio to take a photo of someone.
It was the same person for all 6 of the photographers, however they were all told different stories about who the person was.
To some, a self made millionaire, to others an alcoholic in recovery.
To one photographer, they said he saved someone's life, to another photographer they said he just got out of jail.
At the end of the day they lined up the portraits the photographers took to represent the person.
They were all vastly and incredibly different.
The incredible point Canon made was to show the world that it's not about the camera...
Because all 6 photographers used the exact same camera.
It was about the person behind the camera that made the difference, it was their perception of what and who was in front of them that determined how they took the shot.

I found this fascinating and made me think of how this relates to wedding photographers and for me, it makes me realise how important it is for wedding photographers to get to know their couples. There needs to be a good rapport and they need to be on the same wavelength with what sort of images they are looking for. Otherwise, you may end up with photos that do not resonate with your day and what you are like as a couple.
When a couple is interested in my work, we have a free consultation (more like a chat) and just get to know each other a little. This is a crucial part of knowing whether we would be a good match.
Take a look at my approach and see if this resonates with you.
