Wedding Photography FAQ — Colin Jones Photography
How much does a wedding photographer cost in County Durham?
Wedding photography packages typically range from £1,000 to £2,500, depending on coverage hours, travel, and any extras like engagement shoots or albums. I offer a free engagement shoot with every full-day package, so you get used to being in front of the camera before the big day. Get in touch for a personalised quote based on your wedding.
Is an engagement shoot a good idea?
Definitely. An engagement shoot is included free with every full-day wedding package, and it's a great opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day. It also gives us a chance to get to know each other, so on the day itself, things feel relaxed and natural rather than like a formal photoshoot. Take a look at some engagement shoots for examples of what to expect.
What if I'm really nervous about being photographed?
Totally normal — lots of couples feel this way! This is exactly why the free engagement shoot is so valuable: it's a low-pressure practice ahead of the big day, helping you get used to being in front of the camera, feel more at ease with how I work, and build confidence so that on your wedding day, posing for photos feels second nature rather than something to worry about.
Do you offer wedding albums?
Yes — beautifully printed albums are available to help you relive your wedding day for years to come, rather than just having digital files. Take a look at some example albums.
What happens if it rains on my wedding day?
Don't worry — a bit of rain or even snow won't ruin your photos; it can actually add lovely atmosphere and emotion to the day. If the weather looks unworkable outdoors, I'll have already scouted indoor or covered alternatives at your venue, so we're never caught out.
Can my wedding guests take photos too?
Of course! I'd just ask that guests be mindful not to get in the way during key moments like the ceremony or formal portraits — both for the shot itself and so people aren't distracted looking at multiple cameras instead of the moment. Outside of those moments, snap away.
How many photos will I receive?
For a full day of coverage, you can expect over 500 high-resolution images. I focus on quality over quantity — every photo you receive is one worth keeping.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes, I take a 25% deposit to secure your date, with the remaining balance due 4 weeks before your wedding.
Can I share my wedding photos on social media?
Absolutely. All packages include a print release, meaning you're free to share, print, and use your photos for personal use — just please credit Colin Jones Photography when sharing online.
Do you travel outside County Durham?
Yes — while I'm based in County Durham and primarily cover the North East, I'm happy to travel to your chosen venue anywhere in the UK (and beyond). Travel within the UK mainland is included free with full-day packages; accommodation for longer trips can be discussed separately.
Will we get to meet before the wedding?
Ideally, yes. A pre-wedding meeting (in person or over Zoom) is a great chance to go through timings, your vision for the day, and any questions you have — so we're both on the same page before your wedding.
Are you insured?
Yes, I carry Public Liability Insurance and can provide a copy on request. I also work through a contract with every couple, so everything's clear from the start.
How do I book?
Head to the contact page and send over your details — I'll get back to you as soon as possible to check availability and chat through your day.
