sarah and kirt riverside wedding - webster’s ropery, sunderland.

I love to shoot small, intimate weddings! Don’t get me wrong, I also love the buzz of large weddings, but when there are only around 30 guests of the couples nearest and dearest, you get a strong sense of the love amongst them all. Sarah and Kirt garried at the beautiful venue of Webster’s Ropery in Sunderland. The venue is right on the River Wear and makes for an incredible backdrop as the sun starts to set.

Without going too much into the venue, I want to talk first about the wedding. As I said, it was small and intimate, so as guests slowly arrived, Kirt greeted them all individually. It was a completely relaxed atmosphere, with everyone happy to see this day come, as Sarah and Kirt have been a couple since they were 17!

Once all the guests had arrived, they made their way from the bar to the ceremony room upstairs. The venue is such a lovely space, and the midday sun lit the room wonderfully. The ceremony was short and sweet—just as I like it and just as they seem to be these days!

After the ceremony, we headed outside for the group shots. Initially, there was no confetti, but the guys at Webster’s Ropery managed to find some, so we got a great group shot! Great work, guys!

We all headed back inside to warm up a bit before Sarah and Kirt joined me outside for some portraits. All very relaxed and easy, I just let them be themselves as I captured shots of them naturally.

Finally, it was back upstairs for dinner and speeches. There were some lovely speeches, from funny to emotional, it’s often my favourite part of the day, as all I need to do is shoot reactions, and speeches are when emotions are at their peak!

What was my favourite moment of the day?

Kirt and Sarah met when they were 17 at McDonalds and shared a Happy Meal. During Kirt’s Dad’s speech, he brought out a Happy Meal box with photos of the couple at the early stages of their relationship. It was a wonderful moment.

When did it get a bit emotional?

Sarah has such a strong connection with her Dad. His speech was both moving and sincere, which brought a tear to one or two.

What did I like about the venue?

Webster's Ropery was fantastic. I would love to shoot there again, but maybe on a hot summer day!

“We would highly recommend Colin Jones photography. Colin made our day extra special and the photos are exactly what we asked for and more!

Colin is obviously very talented at what he does, with a eye for detail and bounds of creativity, we were so impressed with his ideas and his work is just fantastic.

As a couple it was important we felt comfortable which we most definitely did from the outset. Colin reminded us it's our day and did his up most to make sure we were happy. Colin is very professional and organised, nothing was too much trouble. Colin captured the magic of the day, we've got natural photos which captured the fun and everyone's personality.

The admin side is seamless. I was really impressed with the user friendly and informative website. You are kept in the loop from start to finish. Great communication! You know your in good hands.

Thanks for everything”.
