Thief Hall Wedding - Northallerton - Evie-Mae and Joe
If you are looking for a wedding venue where the staff is highly attentive every step of the way, consider Thief Hall. Once you have seen the place, I’m confident you’ll book it too, because, like the staff, it’s awesome!
Never have I felt more looked after than I did by the staff at Thief Hall. I was checked to ensure I had enough water and to see if there was anything else I needed. They had great ideas for the portrait shots and just brought a great vibe to the whole day. Needless to say, I can’t wait to get back there to shoot again!
Thief Hall is a lovely, relaxed wedding venue with plenty of character and a warm, welcoming feel. Tucked away in the countryside, it offers a beautiful mix of rustic charm and understated elegance, with exposed beams, stone details, and lots of natural light that make the space feel cosy and inviting. The grounds are perfect for wandering, chatting, and taking easygoing photos with friends and family. Overall, Thief Hall feels comfortable and unpretentious, making it a great choice for couples who want a laid-back celebration in a really special setting.
The wedding day began in the brilliantly lit bridal prep room, with its glass ceiling. The room is light and airy, making it ideal for photos. Like many bride preps, champagne was flowing, hair and makeup were in full swing, and of course, stuff everywhere! 😂 Joe was getting ready in the cottage over the road from the ceremony. Despite being a late October wedding, the weather was great! A chill in the air, but otherwise beautiful sunshine, which lasted the whole day. I was so grateful, as Thief Hall is surrounded by fields as far as the eye can see.
The ceremony took place in the converted barn, an excellent space for both the ceremony and the wedding breakfast. Emotions ran high for Joe, who couldn't hold back his tears. Post ceremony, and we are straight outside onto the patio, which is a perfect space for a confetti tunnel. After some quick wedding portraits with the bride and groom, it was time for lunch. Each guest had a one of a kind LEGO man or woman made for them. The reactions to personal gifts like this are amazing! Everyone loved it. Another wedding I did had unique Pokémon cards made for each guest, and again, it went down a storm. Definitely something to think about when planning your wedding!
The sun was starting to set, and it did it fabulously. The sky was a light yellow and orange, making for stunning sunset photos. As a wedding photographer, this is the sort of weather I crave, especially at a venue where the backdrop is North Yorkshire. Finally, it was the first dance, which was great as it actually lasted more than 30 seconds! Usually, the newlyweds want to get the first dance out of the way quickly. I understand that having everyone stare at you while you dance can be uncomfortable. The problem is that this leaves me little time to capture many first-dance photos, especially guests' reactions. Well, Evie and Joe’s first dance lasted at least a minute, which was ample time to get some really nice reaction shots. Make sure you check out the photos below.
I cannot fault this wedding day. Beautiful weather, lovely people, brilliant couple. Evie-Mae and Joe are the epitome of what I look for in clients: a chilled, relaxed vibe. They fit the bill perfectly, and that is when I do my best photography.
