Doxford Barns Wedding - Chathill, Northumberland - Chloe and Joseph
Sometimes when I’m photographing a wedding, I wish I were a guest joining in. This was undoubtedly one of those weddings.
Chloe and Joseph’s wedding was nothing short of amazing. They are a wonderful couple and lovely friends and family surrounded them for their beautiful wedding at Doxford Barns. I will talk more about the venue in a moment, but first, I want to talk about what makes an incredible wedding, and that’s the people involved.
I bang on about this, but weddings are all about energy. If you, the couple, are full of energy, in the moment, and loving every part of your day, that energy and enthusiasm will spread to everyone at your wedding. It makes a massive difference to the atmosphere of the day, and it’s these weddings that I always wish to be a guest of, but I will happily be a wedding photographer!
To go through the day, I will talk about the venue, because I loved it! Barn weddings have skyrocketed in popularity, and it’s no surprise. Doxford Barns is tucked away in the tranquil Northumberland countryside, so you are surrounded by lush green fields and trees. The bridal suite, called The Coop, is one of the largest I have seen! So it is perfect for bride and bridesmaid prep. The suite leads straight to the Threshing Hall, where the ceremony takes place. It's wonderfully rustic, with old beams, fairy lights, and a fireplace lit with dozens of candles. The Great Barn is where the reception took place, with an outdoor courtyard attached to it. It is a perfect space, and it’s also huge! Certainly, no worries of feeling cramped in this space. Attached to this is the Cart Shed and The Forge, which are great spaces for those that need to take the weight off their feet whilst the party animals dance the night away!
Being on a farm, we were lucky enough to be greeted by a friendly horse during the portrait shots and after that, Chloe couldn’t resist climbing up the bales of hay for another shot. By this time, as the sun started to set, these guys were in their element. No need for any wedding poses here.
