St. Chad’s College Wedding - Durham - Finlay and Annalise
A small, intimate wedding in the heart of Durham. This is why my packages were redesigned to cater to those couples that are having a smaller, low key wedding. Gone are the days where “more is more”. A lot of couples don’t need elaborate things for their wedding, but instead are just looking for that one thing…simplicity.
This may sound boring, but to me, simplicity brings with it a stress free wedding. With less going on, there is less to go wrong or worry about. The most important thing for Finlay and Annalise was to be surrounded by their nearest and dearest. Simple as that. Oh and get married, of course.
St. Chad’s College is a lovely, intimate venue. It’s unlike any other I have been to before, as from the outside, opposite the grand Durham Cathedral, it looks like a regular Georgian town house. As you enter you are quickly find yourself stepping back in time. The building is Grade II listed and was built in the 18th Century. The ceremony room is at the centre of the building and is naturally lit by its glass ceiling. This was one of the best ceremony rooms in terms of light that I have photographed in. Outside are the private gardens which again made this feel like a nice, intimate affair. We used the gardens for some nice portrait shots of the couple before moving on to the surroundings of the building. The streets are beutifully cobbled and of course we headed up to Durham Cathedral where I ended up not being the sole photographer taking photos of Finlay and Annalise…they were quite the attraction!
Back to the college for speeches and food before everyone was back outside trying to make the most of the weather!
