lexy and andrew lakeside wedding - inn on the lake, lake district.

lexy and andrew lakeside wedding - inn on the lake, lake district.

Rain and weddings, ruins it right? Wrong!

At least that was the case for Lexy and Andrew’s amazing wedding at the Inn on the Lake in the Lake District. The rain was constant and although we all had optimism at the start of the day, that slowly faded away as the rain got heavier and heavier. Despite the wedding needing to be held indoors rather than outdoors, this did not dampen (pardon the pun) their spirits. Lexy and Andrew simply stated “it is what it is”, which is such a refreshing mindset to have at a wedding! They are such an amazing couple, that they did not lose sight of what was the most important thing on the day…that they got married, and they did it in style!

I think I was more disappointed about the weather than they were! I was hoping for beautiful golden sunlight as the grounds at the Inn on the Lake and breathtaking (I’ll talk more about the venue later). Despite my disappointment, we got some amazing photos and it proved to me that what makes a wedding day great is not the weather, it’s the people! It was not just Lexy and Andrew that kept their spirits up, it was also their friends and family. Even getting on the boat to head out on to the lake didn't impact people’s moods. Everyone embraced the weather, and got a little wet, but just kept on drinking and partying. I have to say this is one of the best weddings I have attended!

I arrived and headed straight to the bridal party. The first thing you notice as you enter the room is the incredible view the room offers, looking straight over the lakes and hillside. Bride Prep is the part of the day that I actually find the least stressful. Contrary to the bride, I find this part of the day relaxing, as I ease into the photography and basically get to know everyone around me a bit better. The room was in full flow, with hair, makeup, babysitting and even a dance routine being performed for TikTok!

I managed to get around 15 minutes with the groom Andrew and his Dad and best man for some quick getting ready photos.

The ceremony was ready and we headed down (not before Lexy got her veil stuck on the stairs!). The ceremony was lovely. The room was a bit of a squeeze around the bride and groom, but myself and the videographer (White Feather Filmmaker) made it work. However, I only wished that the weather eased up and we could have done this outside…but the weather can’t be helped!

Following this was speeches, cake cutting and a chance to do some outdoor bride and groom portraits and then on to the boat! It was a very wet affair, but like I said, Lexy and Andrew simply didn’t care and made the most of it!

After the boat, and after drying off, it was the first dance and party time!

I had an absolute blast at this wedding and I would have loved to have been a guest!

What was my favourite moment of the day?

The boat. I loved how up for it everyone was despite the rain! A bunch of people grabbed ponchos from a local shop before heading there. Very smart move. On the boat, Andrew released a bottle of champagne. But this was not any old standard bottle, it was huge!!! See the photos for more.

When did it get a bit emotional?

Typically, it was the speeches. Sadly, Andrew’s Mum passed away before the wedding and of course, this was touched upon by Andrew. Andrew, his dad and his sister were amazing and yeah…it was hard not to get emotional myself.

What did I like about the venue?

The Inn on the Lake is an amazing venue for many reasons. Mainly, it’s a great space even if it rains, as this wedding proved. Nestled on the shores of Lake Ullswater in the heart of the Lake District, the inn boasts breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding fells, providing a picturesque backdrop. The venue’s versatility is one of its standout features. Whether you're envisioning a grand celebration or an intimate gathering, the Inn on the Lake offers a range of beautiful spaces to suit your needs. The lakeside gazebo is ideal for outdoor ceremonies, allowing you to exchange vows with the serene water and mountains as your witness. For indoor options, the grandeur of the Lake View Restaurant or the romantic atmosphere of the Candleroom creates a warm, inviting ambiance that enhances the joy of the occasion.

In addition to its stunning scenery, the Inn on the Lake offers exceptional service. The experienced wedding coordinators are dedicated to making every detail perfect, from the floral arrangements to the personalized menus crafted by their talented chefs. The venue also offers luxurious accommodation for you and your guests, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing stay surrounded by nature’s beauty.

photojournalistic photography.

photojournalistic photography.

Photojournalistic wedding photography captures the candid moments and genuine emotions of a couple's special day. As a wedding photographer, I integrate this approach by focusing on storytelling through spontaneous imagery rather than staged poses.

At the core of photojournalistic photography is the ability to observe and react to events as they unfold. I blend into the background, allowing the day to unfold naturally. Whether it’s a heartfelt tear, a burst of laughter, or those intimate glances between the couple and their loved ones, I strive to document real emotions in real time.

I pay close attention to interactions throughout the day—capturing guests as they mingle, parents’ tender moments, and the joyful chaos of dancing. Every detail tells a story, from the intricate decor to the smallest gestures of love. By prioritizing these genuine interactions, I create a visual narrative that reflects the unique essence of each wedding.

Post-processing is minimal; I aim to preserve the authenticity of the moments captured. My goal is to create a series of images that not only reflect the events of the day but also evoke the emotions felt by the couple and their loved ones. This approach results in a timeless collection of images that convey the true spirit of the celebration.

Ultimately, my objective as a wedding photographer is to provide couples with a gallery filled with memories that they can relive for years to come, all through the lens of natural storytelling and authentic moments.

The Art of Photojournalistic Wedding Photography

Photojournalistic wedding photography is a captivating approach that blends the techniques of documentary photography with the magic of a wedding day. It moves away from traditional posed shots and instead focuses on capturing raw, unscripted moments, allowing the emotions and story of the day to unfold naturally. As a wedding photographer, I embrace this style to provide couples with a genuine reflection of their special day, capturing moments as they happen, rather than staging them.

What is Photojournalistic Wedding Photography?

Definition and Overview of Photojournalistic Wedding Photography

At its core, photojournalistic wedding photography, often referred to as reportage or documentary-style photography, aims to capture the day in a candid and natural manner. Unlike traditional styles, where the photographer directs and poses the couple and guests, this approach involves the photographer becoming an observer. The result is a collection of images that tell the story of the day, filled with genuine moments, laughter, tears, and love.

Key Characteristics of Photojournalistic Wedding Photography

The essence of photojournalistic wedding photography lies in its authenticity. Key elements include:

  • Candid moments: Unplanned and unscripted emotions.

  • Natural lighting: Minimal interference with flash or artificial lights.

  • Storytelling: Each photograph adds a piece to the overall narrative of the wedding.

  • Emotion-driven: The focus is on capturing feelings rather than perfection.

Evolution of Wedding Photography Styles

Traditional vs. Photojournalistic Style

Traditional wedding photography has long been the standard, with posed portraits and meticulously arranged group shots. While there is beauty in the precision of traditional shots, the photojournalistic style offers a refreshing contrast. It’s less about perfection and more about capturing the true essence of the couple and their day. As a photographer, I believe both styles have their place, but couples are increasingly drawn to the authenticity of photojournalism.

Influence of Documentary Photography in Weddings

Documentary photography, known for its role in capturing real-world events as they unfold, has had a significant influence on modern wedding photography. This influence encourages a more hands-off approach from the photographer, allowing the day to progress naturally while capturing moments that tell the story of the event.

How I Incorporate Photojournalism in Weddings

Personal Approach to Capturing Candid Moments

As a photographer, I prioritize blending into the background during key moments, allowing the couple and their guests to feel comfortable and relaxed. I focus on capturing the unscripted smiles, laughter, and interactions that make a wedding day unique. My role is to be an unobtrusive presence, waiting for the right moment to freeze-frame genuine emotions.

Balancing Photojournalism with Posed Shots

While photojournalism is a key part of my photography style, I understand the importance of incorporating a few posed shots, especially for family portraits or couple shots. Striking a balance is essential—ensuring the couple has timeless portraits to look back on, while also preserving the candid feel of the rest of the collection.

Creative Wedding Photos.

How I Capture Creative Wedding Photos as a Wedding Photographer.

As a wedding photographer, creating captivating and timeless images is my ultimate goal. My approach focuses on blending emotion, storytelling, and artistry to produce memorable wedding photos that couples will treasure for a lifetime.

Understanding the Couple's Vision

The first step in capturing creative wedding photos is to understand the couple’s unique vision. I schedule a detailed consultation to learn their preferences, personalities, and wedding day expectations. By knowing what they value most, I tailor my photography style to reflect their love story authentically.

Incorporating Natural Light and Scenic Backdrops

One of the keys to great wedding photography is maximizing natural light. I scout the venue beforehand to find the best locations with optimal lighting. Whether it's the soft glow of a sunset or the clean, crisp light of an outdoor ceremony, I use natural light to enhance the mood of every shot. Scenic backgrounds like lush gardens or elegant architecture further elevate the visual impact of the photos.

Candid Moments Are Priceless

While posed photos have their place, capturing candid moments is where the true magic happens. Genuine expressions of love, laughter, and joy reveal the couple’s authentic connection. I discreetly capture these fleeting moments, ensuring the photos tell the real, unscripted story of the day.

Creative Composition and Angles

To make each photo stand out, I focus on unique compositions and angles. By experimenting with different perspectives—whether it’s shooting through decorative elements, using reflections, or framing the couple with nature—I add a creative twist that transforms ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.

Utilizing Props and Personal Details

Incorporating props or personal elements into the wedding photos adds a layer of creativity and meaning. Whether it’s a family heirloom, custom wedding décor, or sentimental items, I use these details to reflect the couple’s personality and enhance the visual storytelling.

Editing with a Fine-Tuned Touch

Post-processing is where the final magic happens. I carefully edit each photo to match the couple’s desired aesthetic, whether it’s soft and romantic, bold and vibrant, or timeless and classic. Every detail is polished, from colour correction to fine-tuning contrast, ensuring that the final gallery is both visually stunning and cohesive.

The Importance of Timing

Wedding photography is all about timing. I stay prepared to capture key moments, from the first look to the grand exit. By anticipating these special moments and acting swiftly, I ensure nothing is missed, and every significant emotion is immortalized in the photos.

Final Thoughts

Capturing creative wedding photos requires a balance of technical skill, artistic vision, and a deep connection with the couple. By focusing on candid moments, natural lighting, unique compositions, and personal touches, I create wedding albums that not only reflect the beauty of the day but also the love story behind it.

Fine art wedding photography.

When it comes to wedding photography, nothing captures the spirit of your special day like fine art wedding photography. This style not only immortalizes the love between two people but also turns those precious moments into pieces of art. With its attention to detail, creativity, and sophisticated aesthetic, fine art wedding photography has become a favored choice for couples who value elegance, timelessness, and luxury.

What is Fine Art Wedding Photography?

Fine art wedding photography is more than just capturing an event. It’s a form of visual storytelling, combining elements of portrait photography, fashion photography, and documentary-style photography to produce artistic, visually stunning images. Photographers who specialize in this genre approach each wedding as an artistic opportunity, framing every shot to highlight beauty, emotion, and artistry.

Unlike traditional wedding photography, which often focuses on documenting the day as it happens, fine art wedding photographers seek to create images that are intentional and crafted with care. Every frame is meticulously composed, and the result is a collection of images that feel more like a curated gallery than a set of standard wedding photos.

The Essence of Fine Art Wedding Photography.

Fine art wedding photography is distinguished by its use of light, composition, and narrative. A fine art photographer uses these elements to create images that are both intimate and dramatic. Natural light often plays a significant role in this style, adding softness and elegance to each photograph.

  1. Composition: The composition of each shot is thoughtfully planned, often inspired by classical art forms. Fine art wedding photographers draw inspiration from paintings, sculptures, and other forms of visual art to create images that feel timeless and sophisticated.

  2. Storytelling: Each photo in fine art wedding photography tells a part of the wedding’s story. The photographer doesn’t just capture the big moments like the ceremony or the first dance but also focuses on the quiet, in-between moments. Whether it’s the bride adjusting her veil, the groom waiting for his bride, or a candid laugh shared between family members, every image is intended to evoke emotion and nostalgia.

  3. Attention to Detail: Fine art wedding photography also pays close attention to details that others might overlook. From the texture of the bride’s gown to the intricate floral arrangements, everything is captured to contribute to the overall feel of elegance and sophistication.

Why Choose Fine Art Wedding Photography?

Choosing fine art wedding photography is about more than just having beautiful wedding photos—it’s about creating a lasting legacy. Here are some compelling reasons why many couples opt for this style of photography:

1. Timeless Aesthetic

The elegance of fine art wedding photography ensures that your images will remain timeless for decades to come. The use of soft tones, classic compositions, and artistic framing creates photos that won’t feel outdated. They have a museum-quality appearance that transcends trends, making them a perfect addition to your home for years to come.

2. Emphasis on Emotion

Fine art photographers are masters at capturing the emotion of the day. From the nervous anticipation before walking down the aisle to the overwhelming joy of saying “I do,” each photo is filled with the raw, authentic emotions of the moment. These images go beyond simple documentation—they make you feel the love and happiness every time you look at them.

3. Customization and Personalization

With fine art wedding photography, every wedding is approached with fresh eyes. Photographers take the time to get to know the couple, understand their vision, and craft images that reflect their personalities and unique love story. Each shot is personalized, making your wedding photos as individual as your relationship.

4. Creative Use of Lighting and Settings

Fine art wedding photographers are known for their masterful use of light. They often work with natural light to create soft, ethereal images, and they know how to use settings like the outdoors, grand architectural backdrops, or elegant interiors to enhance the visual appeal of the photos. The result is a stunning gallery of images that feels cohesive and artistic.

The Fine Art Wedding Photography Process

A fine art wedding photography session is a collaboration between the photographer and the couple. It begins long before the wedding day, with discussions about the couple’s style, preferences, and vision for their wedding photos.

1. Pre-Wedding Consultation

In the pre-wedding consultation, the photographer will discuss your expectations and vision. This is where the magic begins—fine art photographers take time to understand your story, your venue, and any special elements of your wedding that should be highlighted.

2. The Wedding Day

On the wedding day, fine art photographers are both present and invisible. While they remain discreet and unobtrusive, they are always ready to capture candid moments and details that contribute to the overall narrative. From getting ready shots to the ceremony and reception, the photographer moves through the day capturing both the grand and the intimate.

3. Post-Processing and Editing

After the wedding, the photographer spends hours curating and editing the photos. The post-production process is where fine art photographers truly shine. With a keen eye for color, light, and composition, they create cohesive and beautifully finished images that look like they belong in a high-end magazine or gallery.

Choosing the Right Fine Art Wedding Photographer

Selecting a fine art wedding photographer is a crucial decision. It’s important to choose someone whose work resonates with you. When browsing portfolios, look for the following:

  • Consistency: Review their portfolio for consistency in style, lighting, and composition. Fine art photographers should have a strong, recognizable aesthetic.

  • Emotional Connection: Choose a photographer whose work evokes emotion in you. These images should feel more than just beautiful—they should resonate deeply.

  • Experience and Reviews: Look at reviews from previous clients and ensure the photographer has experience capturing weddings in a fine art style.

Conclusion: Immortalizing Your Wedding with Fine Art Photography

Fine art wedding photography is the perfect choice for couples who want to remember their wedding day as a work of art. With its emphasis on beauty, emotion, and artistic vision, this style elevates traditional wedding photography into something extraordinary. If you want wedding photos that are timeless, elegant, and uniquely yours, fine art wedding photography is the way to go.

wedding photography near me - your guide

In this article, we will guide you through everything you need to know about wedding photography near you, what to look for in a photographer, and how to make sure your day is captured flawlessly.

wedding photography near me - your guide

When it comes to wedding planning, one of the most crucial decisions you will make is choosing the right wedding photographer. After all, your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and those special moments deserve to be preserved beautifully. Wedding photography near me is one of the most common searches engaged couples make, ensuring they find a talented photographer nearby who can immortalize their big day in stunning images.

In this article, we will guide you through everything you need to know about wedding photography near you, what to look for in a photographer, and how to make sure your day is captured flawlessly.

Why Choosing the Right Wedding Photographer Matters

Selecting a photographer for your wedding isn't just about snapping a few photos; it's about entrusting someone with the job of telling the story of your most memorable day. The wedding photographer you choose will capture moments, emotions, and details you might miss in the whirlwind of the day. From the bride walking down the aisle to the first dance, every shot matters.

When searching for wedding photographers near me, you want someone who understands your vision, has a portfolio that reflects the style you love, and can make you feel comfortable in front of the camera.

Types of Wedding Photography Styles

Photography isn't one-size-fits-all. Different photographers specialize in different styles, and it's essential to pick a style that suits your preferences. Here are the most popular styles:

1. Traditional Wedding Photography

Traditional photography focuses on posed shots and carefully staged images. This classic style captures key moments, including family portraits, the first kiss, and cake cutting. If you like structured photos and want to ensure that nothing is missed, traditional photography may be the right choice for you.

2. Photojournalistic Wedding Photography

Photojournalistic, or documentary, photography focuses on candid shots. The photographer works in the background, capturing real emotions and unscripted moments as they naturally unfold. This style is perfect for couples who want their wedding to be documented as a story rather than a series of posed pictures.

3. Fine Art Wedding Photography

Fine art wedding photography takes a creative and artistic approach to your wedding day. These images often have a dreamlike quality, using unique compositions, lighting, and editing. If you love the idea of your wedding photos looking like pieces of art, then a fine art photographer could be perfect for you.

4. Editorial Wedding Photography

Inspired by high-fashion shoots, editorial wedding photography is glamorous and polished. The photographer will create dramatic, magazine-worthy shots with an emphasis on elegance and sophistication. This style works well for couples who want their wedding photos to feel luxurious.

What to Look for When Searching "Wedding Photography Near Me"

When you begin your search for wedding photographers near me, there are several key factors to consider that will help you make the right choice:

1. Portfolio and Style

Always review a photographer’s portfolio to ensure their style aligns with your vision. Check for consistency in their work and look for full wedding galleries, not just highlight reels. This will give you a better understanding of what you can expect for your own wedding.

2. Experience and Reviews

It’s essential to hire someone with a wealth of experience, especially in wedding photography. Experienced photographers will know how to handle unexpected moments and manage challenging lighting situations. Read reviews and testimonials to gauge the satisfaction of their previous clients.

3. Personality and Connection

You’ll be spending a significant portion of your wedding day with your photographer, so it’s important to choose someone you feel comfortable with. Schedule consultations to ensure that you and your photographer connect well and share a mutual understanding of your needs.

4. Packages and Pricing

Wedding photography can be a considerable investment. Compare packages to find what works best for your budget. Understand what each package includes, such as the number of hours of coverage, prints, albums, and whether an engagement session is included.

5. Backup Equipment and Assistants

A professional wedding photographer should always have backup equipment and, in some cases, an assistant to ensure that no critical moments are missed. Ask about their contingency plans in case of technical issues.

Questions to Ask Wedding Photographers Near You

Before finalizing your decision, be sure to ask potential photographers the following questions:

  • What’s your photography style, and how do you approach weddings?

  • Can we see a full wedding gallery?

  • What packages do you offer, and what’s included in each?

  • How many hours of coverage do you provide?

  • Will you be the one photographing our wedding, or will it be an associate?

  • What happens if there’s bad weather or poor lighting?

  • Do you offer engagement sessions, and is it included in the package?

  • How long after the wedding will we receive our photos?

How to Maximize Your Wedding Photo Experience

Once you’ve booked your photographer, there are several steps you can take to ensure that your wedding day photos turn out perfectly.

1. Schedule an Engagement Session

An engagement session allows you to get comfortable in front of the camera and gives your photographer a chance to understand your dynamic as a couple. It’s also an excellent opportunity to discuss your preferences.

2. Create a Shot List

Make sure your photographer knows about any specific moments or people you want to be captured. Whether it's a family heirloom, a certain guest, or a particular part of your venue, communicate those must-have shots.

3. Plan Your Timeline

Work with your photographer to plan a timeline that allows for sufficient time for posed portraits, candid shots, and detail photos. Be sure to consider how much time it will take for certain shots, such as bridal party portraits or sunset couple shots.

4. Trust Your Photographer

On the day of the wedding, trust your photographer to capture the best moments. Professional photographers are experts at identifying beautiful lighting, angles, and opportunities for creative shots. Relax and enjoy your day, knowing they have everything under control.

Final Thoughts: Finding the Best Wedding Photographer Near You

Choosing the perfect wedding photographer near you requires careful consideration, but the investment is well worth it. When you find someone whose style, experience, and personality align with your vision, you can rest assured that your wedding day memories will be beautifully captured for years to come.

If you're searching for wedding photography near me, remember to take your time, review portfolios, and communicate openly with potential photographers. With the right photographer, you’ll be able to relive your special day through stunning images that stand the test of time.

sam and markus english country house wedding - ellingham hall, northumberland.

sam and markus english country house wedding - ellingham hall, northumberland.

Sam and Markus’s wedding at Ellingham Hall in Northumberland was very much my sort of vibe…chilled. Everything went smoothly and everything was ahead of schedule, so there were a lot of happy guests. Thankfully, the weather held out for this wedding, which was more than ideal because the surrounding gardens of this beautiful English Country House are stunning.

I arrived and headed for Lady B’s suite, which was pretty difficult to find! The venue can feel a bit of a maze at times, but that just adds to its character! Sam was almost ready with her son and mum. Markus stayed in the stunning Ellingham Suite which has access to a private roof terrace with a hot tub. The lucky couple would be staying in this room on the wedding night.

The ceremony takes place on the ground floor, which again, is stunning and the reception took place outside in the glorious sunshine. This is of course everyone mingled and the time to gather guests for group shots. This was a challenge, as Markus is actually German, so there was a language barrier with his family and friends. However, this wasn’t an issue as I am sure most have attended a wedding before, so they (kind of) understood what I was requesting.

What was my favourite moment of the day?

The dance floor. Rather than the usual wedding hits, German music was played most of the night! I felt like I was at Oktoberfest!

When did it get a bit emotional?

Not so much emotional, but a nice moment. Sam’s son Jake walked Sam down the isle and Markus shook his hand proudly.

What did I like about the venue?

Ellingham Hall is a stunning wedding venue located in Northumberland, England. Set within picturesque grounds, this Georgian mansion offers a blend of elegance and charm, making it a perfect backdrop for both intimate and grand celebrations.

The venue features beautiful gardens, including a landscaped courtyard and expansive lawns, ideal for outdoor ceremonies and photographs. Inside, the hall boasts exquisite period features, luxurious decor, and a range of versatile spaces, from cozy rooms for smaller gatherings to a grand dining area for larger receptions.

Ellingham Hall also provides exclusive use, allowing couples to celebrate their special day without interruptions. The dedicated wedding team ensures a seamless experience, assisting with everything from catering to planning. With its romantic ambiance and breathtaking surroundings, Ellingham Hall is a dream destination for couples looking to tie the knot.

Engagement shoots can play a crucial role in establishing a comfort level with your wedding photographer. This pre-wedding session allows couples to become familiar with the photographer's style, personality, and working methods. By spending time together during the engagement shoot, clients can build trust and rapport with their photographer, leading to a more relaxed and natural dynamic on the wedding day. Additionally, the engagement photos serve as a valuable opportunity for the photographer to understand the couple's preferences, personalities, and best angles, ensuring that the wedding day photography captures the essence of the couple authentically and beautifully.

On your wedding day, being present in the moment during your photographs is essential. As the camera captures these precious memories, focus your attention on each other and the love you share. Let go of any distractions or worries, allowing genuine emotions to shine through. Embrace the joy, excitement, and romance of the day, savouring every second as it unfolds. By immersing yourself fully in the present moment, you can ensure that your wedding photographs beautifully reflect the true essence of your special day.

To feel more comfortable with your wedding photographer, keep in mind that they are skilled professionals whose main goal is to help you shine on your big day. Effective communication is essential, so feel free to express your likes, worries, or any creative visions you might have. Have confidence in their experience and direction in capturing unforgettable moments. Stay calm, act naturally, and savour every moment of the event. Preparing some poses or facial expressions in advance can also boost your confidence in posing. Remember, the greater your ease, the more authentic and remarkable your photographs will be.

If you’re still nervous about your wedding photos, I recommend getting a pre-wedding shoot. If you’d like to book one (whether I’m photographing your wedding or not), then contact me here or message me on Instagram.

lauren and matty luxury wedding - the croft hotel, darlington.

lauren and matty luxury wedding - the croft hotel, darlington.

This wedding was all about fun and having a laugh! Let’s face it, weddings are very much like big parties these days, apart from the actual ceremony bit! This wedding went one step further. It was all about the fun, drinking and dancing. Needless to say, I also had a lot of fun at this wedding and when you are surrounded by party people, you can’t help but smile and join in. The whole wedding took place at the beautiful Croft Hotel in Darlington. This place may look like a pretty ordinary country hotel from the outside, but on the inside, the work that has been done is simply mind blowing!

I arrived and went straight to the Garden Suite where Lauren and her bridesmaids were getting ready. As soon as I stepped in, music was blaring and drinks were flowing! It wasn’t even 9am yet! I am not one to judge though, especially on your wedding day. You live that day exactly as how you want to live it, and Lauren and her girls were certainly doing that! Lauren was so kind as to provide me with a little welcome gift, which is very rare! In it was a couple of chocolate bars and a red bull to keep me going, and a lovely thank you card. It was such a nice touch and it is so lovely to be welcomed in such a way. The Garden Suite is immaculate and a perfect room for the bridal party to get ready in. Matty was getting ready in the same venue, but upstairs, so I made my way up there just as he was applying the finishing touches to his suit. Again, when I arrived in their room, the drinks were full flowing!

The ceremony takes place in the Secret Garden Chapel, which again, is stunning (check out the photos below) and the reception took place in the room next door, the Garden Suite.

As I said, this wedding was a party wedding, and it was as the sun started going down when it really got going. Lauren brought out a shot trolley and casually handed out jager bombs and various other shots that I did not want to go near! There were pink cowboy/girl hats handed out, and then a 360 degree video stand. Like I said, this wedding was all about fun. As the hours passed and more drinks were consumed, the dance floor started to fill, which was a lot of fun.

What was my favourite moment of the day?

I am a massive fan of the band The Killers, so when Mr. Brightside came on, I was happy to see and photograph everyone who was loving it and singing their heart out to it.

When did it get a bit emotional?

Like most weddings, the speeches are what get emotional, and it was the same at this one (see photos below).

What did I like about the venue?

The Croft Hotel was a dream to photograph. Set in the charming, historic village of Croft-on-Tees and named after the loveable village itself, local luxury The Croft boasts both affordable glamour and all the comforts of home. From the team that brought you Newton Hall, Le Petit Chateau and Runa Farm, your wedding will be in the safest of hands.

Hidden within this historic Grade-II listed building is an enchanting Garden Chapel like no other. With huge antique doors, floor to ceiling mirrors, and ancient cascading willow trees deliver a truly magical and fairy-tale experience. A wow-worth beautiful stone aisle lined with oodles of luscious romantic florals is the path you’ll take to the raised altar where you can finally declare: “I DO”.

The choice is yours when it comes to set-up, choose tastefully traditional or go daringly different with our runway aisle set-up where your nearest and dearest will all have front row seats to the ‘wedding of the year’.

From banqueting to a good old knees up, cake-cutting and bouquet throwing to magical mist dancing and cocktail shaking; the Garden Suite at The Croft is where it all happens.

This unique designed botanical hideaway ensures for the ultimate indoor/outdoor feel with a wall of sliding glass opening out onto our secret garden terrace. Here you’ll find a cosy yet lovable, hidden wonderland complete with fire pits, a wow water feature and a fully retractable roof so this space can be enjoyed all year-round.

Sophisticated garden chairs and round rustic tables sat proudly under a luscious canopy of hanging wisteria, are at the heart of this botanic oasis allowing you to sit back and relax knowing you can celebrate in style.

will and jade tipi wedding - hardwick hall and bradbury glade, sedgefield.

When it comes to weddings, relaxed and simple weddings are the ones I love to shoot most. If the bride and groom and relaxed, then so am I, and this really was the case with Will and Jade. These two are a wonderful couple, and I could tell from our initial phone call that they are my sort of couple. Their brief to me was…well…brief! They just wanted natural, authentic photos of their friends and family having fun. They were not fussed on photos of themselves, but all couples seem to have this tagline! Of course, I ignored that and made sure they were the stars of the show when it came to their photos. From start to finish, this was a great wedding to shoot, not only because of Will and Jade’s relaxed nature but also because of their friends and family, who were all so nice and made me feel at complete ease. I really believe it is the people that make or break a wedding, and Will and Jade keep great company, as I loved every minute of this wedding and I don’t think I have laughed as much as at this one!

The day was split into two. Will and Jade got ready at the beautiful Hardwick Hall in Sedgefield, before moving on in a stylish VW Beetle and VW Camper to Bradbury Glade. Starting with Hardwick Hall, this is a stunning country hotel with breathtaking lakeside views in the heart of Hardwick Country Park. Jade was getting ready in the Celebration Suite, a Deluxe Master Bedroom with ornate en-suite bathroom  plus two additional bedrooms sharing a lavish bathroom, a beautifully furnished lounge and a rooftop terrace garden complete with a fabulous all year round hot tub. Safe to say, it was a fantastic room to shoot in. Moving on to Bradbury Glade, it is a hidden gem in the heart of County Durham! It’s so tucked away that you wouldn’t even know it existed from the outside! It’s set within a woodland glade, surrounded by a 60-acre forest. The star of the location is the tipi; the tipi spaces are striking, spacious and stylish. As the evening draws in, they light up with thousands of fairy lights, creating an enchanting wow-factor element.

The wedding ceremony went very smoothly, with plenty of laughs along the way. I have to mention when Will had to pause the ceremony as he noticed the celebrant had a bug crawling up his arm! That brought the house down!! The laughs didn’t stop there either, as with the group shots, the groomsmen had a lot of fun! See the photos below!

I could not be happier with how this wedding went and I hope I get to photograph more Will and Jade’s out there!

What was my favourite moment of the day?

The couple had some lawn games arranged, including giant Jenga and swingball. There are two favourite moments of the day. One was with the jenga, a game that drew a crowd and was agonising to watch and photograph! The next was a toddler who could not get enough of the swingball. Every time the ball got hit, he screamed with laughter! It was adorable.

When did it get a bit emotional?

As you can imagine, speeches are a time when emotions run high and it was no different here. I love speeches for this reason. They are nearly always full of love and laughter but also sadness, such as someone not being able to attend the wedding. In this case, Will’s Dad delivered a moving speech about the importance of friendship. It certainly brought a tear to many faces.

What did I like about the venue?

What’s not to like about Bradbury Glade!! The endless fields and forest will transport you and your guests a million miles away, offering you the chance to escape the hustle and bustle of busy life. At Bradbury Glade, staff are super chilled, friendly, and experienced and they want to make wedding planning a breeze for you. They have everything you need too, such as three giant tipis and a chill out tipi, all linked together so you’ve got a warm, welcoming and large space to wine, dine, dance and celebrate. Tables and benches to seat up to 150 people. A luxury onsite bar, with all the booze you desire and easily paid for with cash or card. Access to the venue the day before so you can style the space (without being rushed). Solid wooden flooring throughout the tipi (everyone wearing heels will thank you). Chill out area for when you need a little R&R consisting of Chesterfield sofas, armchairs and a fire pit to create a serious ambience. Fire pits inside – toasted marshmallows, anyone?Fairy lighting is throughout the inside of the tipi, and festoon lighting is outside for that extra magic. There is plenty of parking on-site, luxury loos and heaters in case the evenings get chilly! Finally, they have teamed up with an amazing catering company called Canvas Catering. Their food was amazing and I cannot recommend them enough!

rachael and joseph barn wedding - northside farm, horsley.

Rachael and Joseph’s wedding was exactly my type of wedding - very relaxed, chilled vibes and simply not taking everything too seriously. Of course, it was a wedding, which can be seen as a serious event, but this wonderful couple just had fun and put their personal touch on it. The wedding, as the title suggests, was at Northside Farm in Horsley and it is easily one of my favourite wedding venues that I have ever shot at. Just like the couple, it was very relaxed and chilled, which at a wedding is rather selfishly exactly what /I need! Finally, there’s the friends of family, and I have said it before and I will say it again, it is these people that can make or break a wedding experience for me and I am pleased to say everyone was incredibly nice and welcoming. The father of the bride even offered to buy me a pint!

So, a great couple, an amazing venue, and fantastic friends and family…anything else? Yes, and possibly the highlight, the couple's beautiful golden retriever, Bowie. As a dog person and owner myself, it was very difficult for me not to stop and give him belly rubs every five minutes. Thankfully, other people were busy doing that, so I could focus on the photography.

With all that, this was set up to be the perfect wedding, and I’m glad to say it was (apart from maybe the wind on that day, which made group shots very challenging!). Because of the blustery conditions outside, we did a few family group shots inside instead. Long hair and wind are not a good combination for photography. Thankfully, the conditions of the portrait shots with just the couple and me improved. The wind died down and the sun stayed out just about long enough to get some nice golden hour shots.

What was my favourite moment of the day?

There were many great moment, but meeting the dog Bowie has to be up there. He was so handsome in his little dog suit (see photos below).

When did it get a bit emotional?

I would say that the bride's reveal to her father was particularly moving. I love when the bride chooses to do a reveal their dad. Nine times out of ten, it blows the dad away. They never expect to see their daughter as they do. They can imagine it all they want, but when they actually see their daughter for the first time in their wedding dress, it brings it all home for them. Rachael’s dad had his breath taken away, followed by tears and a hug. Lovely.

What did I like about the venue?

A Wedding at Northside Farm in Horsley is a dream come true for many couples. wedding photographers vs. vicars

Wedding photographers and vicars often find themselves at odds due to the differing priorities they have during a wedding ceremony. While photographers aim to capture every special moment for the couple, vicars are focused on maintaining the sanctity and solemnity of the ceremony.

Photographers may struggle to navigate the strict rules and regulations set by vicars regarding where they can stand, how they should conduct themselves, and when they can take photographs. Vicars, on the other hand, may perceive photographers as intrusive, disrupting the flow of the ceremony with their constant movements and shutter sounds.

This friction can create tension on the wedding day, requiring clear communication and understanding from both parties. Finding a balance between capturing meaningful images for the couple and respecting the sanctity of the ceremony is essential for a harmonious relationship between wedding photographers and vicars.

Wedding Photographers and Vicars

When it comes to capturing the solemnity and joy of a wedding ceremony, wedding photographers and vicars play distinct but equally important roles. The vicar, as the officiant, guides the couple through their vows and ensures the legalities of the marriage are upheld. Their presence infuses the ceremony with sacredness and tradition.

On the other hand, wedding photographers silently weave through the event, carefully Challenges Faced by Wedding Photographers and Vicars

Wedding photographers and vicars frequently encounter challenges in collaborating harmoniously during wedding ceremonies. The divergent approaches and expectations of these two essential figures in a wedding can often lead to conflicts and misunderstandings.

Perspectives of Wedding Photographers:

Wedding photographers naturally aim to capture the most crucial moments of the ceremony, ensuring the newlyweds have cherished memories to look back on. They rely on clear visibility and movement to capture these moments effectively. As such, photographers may prefer a more liberal approach to positioning and mobility during the ceremony.

Perspectives of Vicars:

Vicars, on the other hand, prioritize the sacred and solemn nature of the wedding ceremony. They are bound by the traditions and protocols of the religious institution they represent. Vicars typically seek minimal disruption during the proceedings, aiming to maintain the sanctity and reverence of the occasion.

Common Difficulties:

  1. Restrictions on Movement: Vicars may restrict photographers from moving around freely, impeding their ability to capture various angles and moments effectively.

  2. Flash Photography: Some vicars prohibit flash photography during the ceremony, affecting the photographers' ability to capture clear images in low-light conditions.

  3. Time Constraints: Differences in the expected duration of the ceremony can lead to clashes between photographers needing ample time for capturing moments and vicars aiming to adhere strictly to the schedule.

  4. Respect for the Sacred Space: Photographers sometimes inadvertently cross boundaries deemed sacred by the vicar, leading to friction and discomfort during the ceremony.

Finding Common Ground:

Effective communication and mutual respect are vital in overcoming the challenges between wedding photographers and vicars. Open dialogue before the wedding day to establish expectations and boundaries can help both parties align their needs and find compromises that ensure a smooth and successful collaboration.

By understanding and respecting each other's roles and priorities, wedding photographers and vicars can work together seamlessly, ultimately contributing to a memorable and harmonious wedding day for the couple and their loved ones.

why i prefer natural wedding photography to posed wedding photography.

I strongly favour natural wedding photography over posed wedding photography. This preference stems from the ability of natural photography to capture genuine emotions and authentic moments. It allows me to preserve the raw essence of the wedding day, encapsulating everything from unscripted interactions and spontaneous laughter to the tender moments between the couple and their loved ones. In my opinion, these candid shots possess a timeless quality that evokes a deeper emotional connection and a more compelling narrative, effectively reflecting the true beauty of the day. By prioritizing natural photography, my goal is to create a genuine and heartfelt visual story that will be cherished for many years to come.

Portrait shots are a moment to reflect on what you have just done. It’s one of the biggest and best days of your life, and this is the rare occasion when you are alone (albeit with me) to be in the moment and appreciate what just happened. Weddings are full on and crazy days for the couple, and portrait shots are an opportunity for guys to just be with each other. I am not there to interfere because when you look back at the portrait shots, I want you to remember simply being in that moment together and how happy you are. What I don’t want is for you to remember me posing you for a shot because if I do that, that will be your memory of that moment. I’d much prefer your reaction to be "Look how happy we look" than "Look how perfect we look". This is not my photoshoot; I am simply capturing what I see and using composition and light to get the nicest shots possible of you both in your moment. Some people feel like they may need to be posed, but I don’t think anybody does. If you have just got married, and it's your first time alone as husband and wife, and you need me to tell you when to hug, kiss, hold hands, and stare into each other’s eyes, then something is probably wrong. I expect you to do all those things independently, and I will simply capture it.

There will be moments where you will be aware of the camera and feel a little cringe or not know what to do next, but that’s OK; all you have to do is bring your mind back to the moment you are in and forget I am there.

I find that posed wedding photos can sometimes lack the authenticity and spontaneity that truly capture the essence of the moment. While they have their place in documenting the day, I believe that candid shots often convey the emotions and energy of the event in a more genuine manner. I prefer to focus on candid photography, as it allows me to preserve the natural interactions and emotions of the couple and their loved ones. For me, these unscripted moments hold a timeless charm that posed photos sometimes struggle to convey.

rebecca and craig city wedding - south shields town hall and wylam brewery, newcastle.

This wedding had a unique spin in that it took place over two days. The first day was the ceremony that took place at South Shields Town Hall just outside of Newcastle. The ceremony was intimate, with just Rebecca and Craig’s immediate family in attendance. This was my first wedding at South Shields Town Hall and I was amazed at the beauty and scale of the building! It was absolutely wonderful! From the outside, the building dominates the area with its stunning architecture. Inside, things get even better, with a wonderful grand staircase leading us to the main wedding room, the Reception Room. This room can hold up to 120 guests, but as this was the only wedding on the day, the staff decided the wedding could be held in their best room.

The Reception Room is absolutely stunning, with it’s huge tall ceilings and beautiful architecture, it was an absolute dream to shoot in…even the lighting was good! It made a stunning backdrop for the wedding. I have gotten this far without mentioning the wonderful couple, Rebecca and Craig. I could not have asked anything more from a wedding couple. They made the photos throughout their own, and the only guidance I provided was where to stand and walk, that was more or less it! They made my job so easy.

With the two families seated and Craig waiting in anticipation but looking cool as a cucumber, it was time for the ceremony to get underway. Rebecca entered looking stunning. Post the “I do’s”, there was a chance to do some photos indoors, as the weather outside was very brisk and Rebecca preferred to have the photos inside, which was fine by me as the venue was stunning.

After this were some portrait shots with just Rebecca and Craig; as I mentioned, they were a delight to shoot. No awkwardness, nothing staged. All natural photography of the couple making the most of their moment.

On to day 2, and this took place at Wylam Brewery in Newcastle. I absolutely love this venue! It is the perfect blend of old and new and the exterior of the building is just as stunning, with a large pond (or lake!) just outside the brewery. Some quick group shots, this time with more family and friends on the steps of the brewery entrance, and then some exterior portrait shots with Rebecca and Craig. The light was perfect as the sun was beginning to set in this wonderful November light. Again, it was a simple case of asking the couple to stand or walk in a certain location. Kissing, hugging, holding hands, smiling…that was all on them, and they didn’t disappoint. This is all I ask of my couples when shooting, not much, is it? You can read more about my approach right here. For more of a guide, download, well, my guide!

We were also lucky enough to have some portraits inside the actual brewery. I love alternative locations like this. They make for such interesting wedding photography. I don’t think a location needs to look beautiful, I think it is more important that a location is interesting! I cannot wait to shoot at Wylam Brewery again and if you are thinking of having a wedding there, you MUST check it out for yourself! I don’t think you will be disappointed!

Portrait shots done, it’s back inside as more guests arrive and Rebecca and Craig do their meet and greet. Once everyone arrives and is seated, the speeches begin, followed by the first dance. Finally, it’s dinner time! I had a chance to have some of the food; again, it was stunning! Being the photographer, however, I had to almost rush my food, unfortunately, but I thought it was lovely.

As the evening drew on, the band Borderland got ready and were soon rocking the place with their music. As the night went on, the dance floor got busier, and this is where the fun really began! I am free to get in there and just enjoy myself as the pressure is now off. Now only need to deliver some killer dance floor photos!

This was a wonderful couple of days and I was honoured to be part of it. I think it’s an awesome idea to split your wedding over two days, especially if you want the ceremony to be a more intimate, family only affair. It certainly brings down costs and everyone seemed really energetic on the second night.

Congrats again to Rebecca and Craig! If you want to know anything more about this wedding or the venues, just get in touch.

why i turn up early as a wedding photographer.

As a professional wedding photographer, I believe that arriving early to each wedding is not just an option, but an essential part of my commitment to my clients. The early hours of the wedding day are when the anticipation and excitement are at their peak, and I want to capture those precious moments for the couple to cherish for a lifetime.

1. Assessing the Venue and Lighting

Arriving early allows me to familiarize myself with the wedding venue and its surroundings. This gives me an opportunity to scout the best locations for various shots, taking into account the available natural light and any potential lighting challenges. By doing this in advance, I can plan my approach accordingly, ensuring that I capture the couple's special moments in the most visually appealing way.

2. Building Trust and Connections

Arriving early also provides me with the opportunity to get to know the couple and their families better. By spending some valuable time before the wedding begins, I can establish a rapport and build trust with them. This connection is crucial in making the couple feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera. When the couple trusts me and feels at ease, it is reflected in their photographs, resulting in more authentic and emotive images.

3. Capturing the Details

Weddings are filled with intricate details that the couple has meticulously planned. From the bride's dress and accessories to the intricate table settings and floral arrangements, every detail is an essential part of the day. By arriving early, I can focus on capturing these intricate details without the rush of the wedding festivities. These photographs not only tell the complete story but also serve as cherished memories for years to come.

4. Documenting Getting Ready Moments

The getting ready moments before the ceremony are often an emotional and intimate time for the couple and their close family and friends. Arriving early allows me to capture these unscripted and heartfelt moments, from the bride's final touches to the groom's nervous anticipation. These images become a significant part of the wedding story, capturing the essence and emotions of the day in their most genuine form.

5. Being Prepared for Unexpected Situations

Weddings are live events, and despite meticulous planning, unexpected situations can arise. By arriving early, I can prepare myself for any unforeseen circumstances. Whether it's a last-minute change in the schedule or a technical difficulty with my equipment, being early gives me the time to address these issues calmly and efficiently. This ensures that the wedding day runs smoothly and stress-free for both the couple and myself.

In conclusion, arriving early allows me to go above and beyond for my clients as a wedding photographer. By familiarizing myself with the venue, building connections, capturing details, documenting getting ready moments, and being prepared, I can deliver a comprehensive and unforgettable photographic experience. I strive to exceed the expectations of each couple I work with, and this begins by turning up early, fully committed to capturing the essence of their special day.

natasa and fotini wedding - the old marylebone town hall, london

Natasa and Fotini's wedding was a beautiful and intimate ceremony at The Old Marylebone Town Hall in London. I have been meaning to write this blog post for some time, as it’s a great example of how a small and intimate wedding can be exactly what the couple wanted. The day started at the lovely Gyle Hotel near Kings Cross Station. There, the couple got ready together rather than in separate locations. Although this is not traditional, this worked for them. This is a big thing for me about couples arranging their weddings; they can do it however they please. Just because there won’t be a first look doesn’t mean the day won’t be memorable. It all comes down to personal preference.

I have done a few weddings in London (as it was my old stomping ground before moving up north), and there is always an intensity about it. Not because of the couple’s planning or timings, but just because it's London! It brings its own drama to weddings, with its busyness and traffic and random members of the public going about their day. It’s an atmosphere which I really enjoy, but it’s not without its challenges!

As you can imagine, as a small and intimate wedding, there were only very close friends and family at the ceremony and I really enjoy weddings like this. I feel I can chat with everyone and it makes me feel really comfortable as a photographer. The makeup and hair were done by Lipstick & Curls Hair and Makeup and everyone looked amazing. After a few photos at the hotel, it was off to the ceremony, where the couple would marry in The Pimlico Room of the town hall. The room was beautifully decorated and had its unique charm to it. The ceremony was short and sweet, but full of happiness and laughter. You can really sense the love between the two.

Post-ceremony and there is just enough time to get some photos within The Old Marylebone Town Hall before another wedding occurs in the same room. Like London, the town hall is very busy with weddings! We venture outside on a surprisingly warm November day and we head towards St. Mary’s Church around the corner. There are some beautiful cobbled streets towards this location, and I thought it would make some nice portrait shots with me and just the couple. Natasa and Fotini wrapped themselves in their very cool, specially designed leather jackets. I thought it was such a cool and fresh idea on how to keep warm but still keep your wedding style. They looked fantastic!

After a quick encounter with a friendly dog, we called it a wrap as the couple had evening plans. This was a half-day booking for me, so it was back on the train back north. I was so happy to have been chosen for this wedding. It was a wonderful day and Natasa and Fotini are a wonderful couple.

Here are some kind words they had for me:

“It was a pleasure to have Colin as our photographer on our special day. He is very accommodating, friendly, discreet and he respected our requests. The final result was better than we had expected. We strongly recommend Colin”.

Thank you again to Natasa and Fotini!

8 tips choosing and using wedding confetti.

As you plan for your special day, don't forget to consider the fun and festive tradition of wedding confetti. It's a wonderful way to add an extra touch of joy and celebration to your wedding photos and create unforgettable memories. Here are some tips to help you choose and use wedding confetti effectively:

1. Check with your venue: Before deciding on confetti, check with your wedding venue to see if they allow confetti. Some venues have restrictions or specific rules regarding the type of confetti that can be used or where it can be thrown. This will save you from any last-minute surprises or disappointments.

2. Choose biodegradable confetti: Consider the environmental impact of your confetti choice. Opt for biodegradable confetti from natural materials like flower petals or rice paper. This way, you can enjoy the tradition without leaving a negative footprint on the environment.

3. Match your wedding theme: Coordinate your confetti with your wedding theme and colour scheme. This can be done by selecting confetti in shades that complement your wedding colours or by choosing confetti shapes that reflect your wedding theme. Whether it's metallic hearts for a romantic wedding or colourful butterflies for a whimsical affair, let your confetti amplify your overall wedding aesthetic.

4. Provide confetti options: If you have specific confetti in mind, consider offering guests a choice of confetti options. This allows them to select their favourite and adds a personalized touch to your celebration. Prepare individual confetti sachets or small baskets with different confetti options for guests to grab and toss.

5. Discuss confetti during the ceremony: Communicate your confetti plans with your officiant, wedding planner, or coordinator to ensure a smooth transition. Let them know when you'd like the confetti moment to happen, whether it's immediately after the ceremony or during your grand exit. This coordination will allow everyone to be ready with their confetti and capture the perfect shot.

6. Determine the throwing technique: Decide on the throwing technique that best suits your style and preference. Whether it's a gentle sprinkle, a jubilant toss in the air, or a playful confetti pop, practice the technique beforehand to ensure it looks just as you envisioned. Discuss this with your photographer as well so they can capture the moment from the best angles.

7. Be aware of the wind: If you're having an outdoor wedding, consider the weather conditions and the wind direction. Avoid using lightweight confetti that might easily blow away or be carried into unwelcome areas. It's helpful to have a confetti test run during your wedding rehearsal to understand how the confetti will behave in different weather scenarios.

8. Clean-up plan: Discuss the clean-up plan with your venue or wedding planner to ensure a hassle-free experience. Find out if they can provide assistance or if you need to arrange a designated clean-up crew. This way, you can enjoy your celebration without worrying about leaving a confetti aftermath behind.

Your wedding day is filled with precious moments you want to capture and cherish forever. Among these moments, confetti photos stand out as a joyous and celebratory tradition that adds an extra layer of excitement to your special day. To ensure that your confetti photos turn out exactly as you envision, it is essential to have a detailed conversation with your wedding photographer about this particular aspect of your wedding. Here's why discussing confetti photos with your photographer is so important:

Capturing the Essence of the Moment:

Confetti tosses have become a popular tradition in weddings, symbolizing the happiness and well wishes showered upon the newlyweds. To authentically capture the essence of this exhilarating moment, your photographer needs to understand your vision. Communicating your desires to your photographer ensures they are aware of the moments you want to have captured and can plan accordingly.

Logistics and Timing:

Discussing confetti photos will help you and your photographer coordinate the logistics and timing of this special moment. Whether you envision confetti being thrown after the ceremony, during the reception, or as you make your grand exit, proper planning is crucial. By having a conversation about your confetti photos, you can determine the best time, location, and arrangements needed to capture these magical moments flawlessly.

Technical Considerations:

Your wedding photographer is an expert in their field and possesses valuable technical knowledge that can help enhance your confetti photos. Discussing confetti with your photographer allows them to plan how to capture the vibrant colours, fluttering confetti, and the emotions on everyone's faces. They can advise you on lighting, camera settings, and other technical aspects that will ensure your photos turn out beautifully.

Guidance for Guests:

Including confetti in your wedding can be a fun surprise for your guests. Still, it's important to provide them with guidance so that they participate in a way that enhances the overall experience. By collaborating with your photographer, you can create a plan to inform and engage your guests on the importance of confetti in your wedding photos.

Backup Plans:

Weather conditions and venue restrictions can sometimes disrupt your original plans for confetti photos. Discussing this aspect with your photographer allows both of you to create backup plans in case of unforeseen circumstances. They can suggest alternative locations or creative ideas to capture the spirit of confetti, even if the initial plan doesn't work out.

Stylistic Choices:

Every couple has a unique style and aesthetic preference. By discussing confetti photos with your photographer, you can ensure that the style and aesthetic of your wedding are beautifully reflected in these pictures. Letting your photographer know about your colour palette, theme, and overall vision will help them compose enchanting confetti photos that align perfectly with your preferences.

Long-lasting Memories:

Your wedding photos are an investment that will serve as a lifelong memory of your special day. By discussing confetti photos with your photographer, you are actively contributing to the creation of these lasting memories. Through open and honest communication, you can ensure that your confetti photos capture the magic and excitement, allowing you to relive those moments for years to come.

In conclusion, discussing confetti photos with your wedding photographer is of utmost importance. By communicating your vision, collaborating on logistics, and considering technical aspects, you can ensure that this magical moment is captured in the most beautiful and authentic way possible. So, don't hesitate to sit down with your photographer and have a detailed conversation about your confetti photos. Together, you can create stunning memories that will be treasured forever.

Remember, wedding confetti adds an element of liveliness and festivity to your special day. By considering these tips and incorporating them into your wedding plans, you'll be able to create magical confetti moments that will be cherished by both you and your guests. Happy confetti tossing!

winter wedding or summer wedding.

A winter wedding can create a magical and cosy atmosphere unique to this season. However, it's important to consider the pros and cons before deciding. Here is a list of advantages and disadvantages to help you make an informed choice for your special day:

Pros:

1. Winter Wonderland: Imagine exchanging vows amidst a snow-covered landscape. Winter weddings can create a stunning backdrop for photography, making your wedding album truly enchanting. The season's beauty can add a touch of romance to your special day.

2. Unique Venue Availability: With fewer weddings during this time, you may have more options for finding and booking your dream venue. You might even be able to secure your preferred location at a lower cost, as venues often offer discounts during the off-peak season.

3. Budget-friendly: Owing to the decreased demand, many wedding vendors offer off-season discounts, including photographers, caterers, and florists. Utilizing these deals can help you stay within your budget or even allow you to splurge on additional elements.

4. Cozy and Intimate: Winter weddings provide an opportunity to create a warm and intimate ambience. Consider incorporating candles, fairy lights, and a crackling fireplace to enhance the cosy atmosphere and make your guests feel more connected.

5. Availability of Guests: As winter is less popular for weddings, your loved ones may have fewer scheduling conflicts, making it easier for them to attend your big day. Additionally, those who choose to join your celebration will likely be more committed and appreciative, ensuring a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere.

Cons:

1. Weather Uncertainty: Winter weather can be unpredictable, and the possibility of snowstorms or extreme cold can cause logistical challenges. Transportation delays, icy roads, and less daylight can impact guest attendance and may require you to have contingency plans in place.

2. Limited Daylight: Winter days are shorter, which means less natural light for outdoor photo sessions and celebrations. It's important to plan your timeline accordingly to take advantage of the available daylight and ensure sufficient time for photography sessions.

3. Limited Floral Options: While beautiful flowers are available, some popular varieties may be harder to find or more expensive during winter. Be prepared to work closely with your florist to determine the best options for your bouquet and decorations.

4. Guest Comfort: Depending on your location, colder temperatures can make outdoor ceremonies or receptions uncomfortable for your guests. To ensure their comfort, consider providing blankets or heaters and keep the duration of outdoor activities to a minimum.

5. Holiday Conflicts: Winter is when many holidays occur, which may cause scheduling conflicts with your guests. Before setting your wedding date, consider consulting with close family and friends to avoid clashing with their plans for the holiday season.

Ultimately, the decision to have a winter wedding is a personal one. By weighing the pros and cons while carefully planning for the potential challenges, you can create a magical winter wonderland perfect for celebrating your love and starting your new journey together.

When it comes to planning a wedding, choosing the right season can significantly impact the overall experience. One popular choice is a summer wedding, filled with warm weather and vibrant colors. However, like any decision, there are pros and cons to consider before saying "I do" to a summer celebration.

Pros:

1. Beautiful outdoor venues: The summer offers various outdoor venues perfect for tying the knot. From picturesque gardens to beachside locations, you'll have numerous options to create a stunning backdrop for your special day. The abundance of natural light during the longer days helps create a magical atmosphere, enhancing the beauty of your wedding photos.

2. Flexible schedule: With longer daylight hours and vacation time for many guests, a summer wedding offers greater flexibility than other seasons. You can plan your ceremony and reception later in the day without worrying about darkness descending too early. This gives you ample time to enjoy a relaxed and unhurried celebration, with plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities and games.

3. Endless floral choices: Summer presents an array of gorgeous blooms for your floral arrangements. Think vibrant peonies, roses, sunflowers, and dahlias. These blooming beauties add a burst of colour and freshness to your wedding aesthetic, making the venue appear even more breathtaking. Besides, the availability of a wider variety of flowers ensures that you can find options that match your personal style and wedding theme.

4. Great weather for travel: If you're planning a destination wedding or have many out-of-town guests, summer presents the perfect time for travel. Sunny skies and warm temperatures make it easier for everyone to reach your chosen location. Plus, planning an outdoor wedding eliminates the worry of unexpected weather conditions causing travel delays or disruptions.

Cons:

1. Higher demand and costs: As one of the most popular wedding seasons, booking venues, photographers, caterers, and other vendors well in advance is crucial. The increased demand during summer can lead to higher prices for these services, potentially stretching your wedding budget. It's essential to plan and secure your vendors early to avoid disappointment or inflated prices.

2. Unpredictable weather: While summer often brings sunshine and warmth, it can also be unpredictable. Sudden rain showers and heat waves are not uncommon during this season. It's important to have contingency plans in place for unforeseen weather conditions, such as a backup indoor venue or providing shade and cooling options for your guests.

3. Guest availability: Summer is a popular time for vacations and family commitments. Some guests may find it challenging to attend your wedding due to conflicting schedules or pre-existing travel plans. Sending out save-the-date cards well in advance can help your loved ones plan accordingly and ensure their presence on your special day.

4. Potential discomfort: High temperatures and humidity during summer weddings can lead to discomfort for you, your wedding party, and your guests. Ensure your venue has proper air conditioning or ventilation to keep everyone cool and comfortable. Additionally, consider providing refreshments, such as iced water or fans, to combat the heat and make your guests feel more at ease.

In conclusion, a summer wedding offers many advantages, including stunning outdoor venues, flexible schedules, abundant floral choices, and great travel conditions. However, it's essential to be mindful of the potential drawbacks, such as higher costs, unpredictable weather, availability conflicts, and prioritising guest comfort. By weighing these pros and cons, you can make an informed decision that suits your vision and preferences for the perfect summer wedding.
